MCPI Joins the Citi-SEEP
Network Strengthening Program
MCPI was chosen in the late 2007 to join
the Citi Network Strengthening Program (NSP) together
with twelve national and regional microfinance networks
around the world. The objective of the NSP is to accelerate the growth of scalable and
sustainable microfinance and integrate microfinance into
the mainstream financial services industry across the
developing world. The Citi NSP seeks to substantially
expand Citi Foundation's support of the microfinance
industry, advancing opportunities for the industry to
reach greater scale, as well as enhancing the
environment for the provision of microfinance globally.
By strengthening individual, national and regional
(multi-country) networks, Citi seeks to inform and
enhance the sector over all, building a stronger
infrastructure for the microfinance industry worldwide.
The Citi NSP is being undertaken in
collaboration with the SEEP Network. The SEEP Network is
recognized as a global leader in the development of
national and regional networks, and the promoter of best
practices in enterprise development and financial
services among microfinance networks. SEEP's 74
institutional members are committed to reducing
poverty through the power of enterprise, serving over
140 countries, and reaching more than 25 million microentrepreneurs (70% are women) around the world. For
over 22 years, SEEP has developed a significant
membership base of practitioners who have created a
wealth of technical resources, tools and trainings that
are widely recognized and used throughout the world.
MCPI was chosen to join the Citi NSP
after a rigorous and competitive selection process. The
NSP is a 3 -year program that started in early 2008 and
will end in October 2010. |
